A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in first degree murder, the Memphis Police Department said in a statement Sunday morning.

Police said that about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, officers had responded to a shooting report at 1163 Barron in the Barron Court Apartments. When officers arrived, they had found a man — later identified as 21-year-old Evvann Harris — lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.

Harris was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, where he was later pronounced dead, the department said.

Joshua Hill-Williams has been arrested and charged in Harris's death, authorities said. An investigation showed that Harris and Hill-Williams had a verbal fight, which police said, "escalated into the suspect shooting Harris."
