Boating advisory issued for river

The Army Corps of Engineers has issued a small-craft advisory for the Arkansas River from Russellville downstream.

Recent heavy rains have caused river flows to rise. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten recreational crafts.

Small-craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second. Flows at Dardanelle Lock and Dam at Russellville are about 100,000 cfs, according to a Corps of Engineers news release. Flows at Murray Lock and Dam in Little Rock are about 95,000 cfs and are about 100,000 cfs at Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam in Pine Bluff.
