Two women were killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle accident in west Little Rock, authorities said.

It happened about 10:15 p.m. at Chenal Parkway and Chenal Club Boulevard, Little Rock Police Department Lt. Sidney Allen said in a statement.

Police identified the driver as Ruth Bryant, 39, and the passenger as Sheila Graves, 35. Both women died at the scene.

An accident report indicates Bryant was driving a 2010 Nissan Maxima that ran off Chenal Parkway into the median, where it hit multiple trees and then caught fire.

"The cause of the accident is unknown; however, preliminary information suggests that speed was a factor," Allen wrote in the statement.

The report notes that authorities contacted a woman who is the "mother of both occupants" to notify her of the deaths shortly before 12:30 a.m.
