Workers assess the damage to the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock after a driver crashed into the building Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

Authorities work the scene after a car drives into the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock early Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

Authorities are clearing up debris at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock after a Roland man drove his 2007 Mercedes-Benz through the building early Friday.

Police estimate the damage to the convention center building at $15,000, according to anaccident report.

About 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident at 101 E. Markham St., where they found a vehicle with an imprint of a person's face inside the driver's-side windshield, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Officers later found Phillip Troppoli, 23, in a stairwell at the Little Rock Marriott, 3 Statehouse Plaza, after a witness said he saw Troppoli flee his vehicle and run toward the hotel after he struck the convention center building, the report states.

Troppoli "had a strong odor of intoxicants ... was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech" when police found him, according to the report. Police said that Troppoli had injuries on the left side of his face that were consistent with being on the driver's side of a vehicle.

A security guard at Club Level, a venue at 315 Main St., near the convention center, told officers that he had seen Troppoli get into his vehicle, rear-end another vehicle and drive north on Main Street "zig-zagging." He told police he saw Troppoli nearly hit a street pole and then flee from his car after striking the convention center.

Troppoli was taken by MEMS to St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, where he was released without treatment, according to the accident report.

Troppoli refused to take an alcohol breathalyzer test, to cooperate with officers and was "verbally combative with the hospital and jail staff," the report states.

He has been charged in driving while intoxicated, careless driving and refusal to submit to the breathalyzer.

Police estimate damage to Troppoli's car at $25,000 and the second vehicle's at $1,500.

Yes Michael mind your own business. He's just the typical 23 year old driving a newer Mercedes and we should not hold him responsible for his actions. What could that possibly teach him? We need to treat him like the privileged teen down in Texas who killed the family with his drunk driving and got probation.

Yeah! Give the guy a break! According to KTHV, this was only his second DWI! I'm sure he'll come to his senses after number 5 or 6.

Apparently this is the fat faced loser's second DWI arrest THIS MONTH. I think these will actually be #2 AND #3 offenses for DWI and refusal to submit. Yes he's been through enough hasn't he?
