MONTGOMERY CITY — Authorities say a 5-year-old boy has died in a weather-related crash in east-central Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash happened Friday morning in Montgomery County when car the boy's mother was driving struck a patch of ice. The car went off the side of the road, overturned several times and came to rest on its left side at the bottom of an embankment.

The patrol identified the victim as Alan K. Knoepflein of Montgomery City. His 32-year-old mother and a baby were taken to a Columbia hospital with non-critical injuries.
