School in northeast Arkansas will search for new president

POCAHONTAS — Black River Technical College in northeast Arkansas will soon be looking for a new president.

The Jonesboro Sun reports the school's board of trustees on Friday voted not to extend President Wayne Hatcher's contract, which expires June 30.

Board members didn't give a specific reason for their decision, but board chairwoman Sue Gibson told The Sun that they're going in a new direction.

The Sun said attempts to reach Hatcher by phone were not successful.

Black River Technical College is a two-year college with an enrollment of more than 2,000 students at its Pocahontas and Paragould campuses.

Hatcher replaced former President Richard Gaines in 2011.

The search for a new president will likely begin next year.
