2 Mississippi men wanted in crime spree arrested in Brinkley

Two Mississippi men that were sought in connection with a crime spree are in custody Saturday afternoon, the Arkansas State Police said in a statement.

The agency said that about 3:15 p.m, state police and a U.S. marshal arrested the men — Cody A. Eggemeyer, 26, and Michael D. Manis, 33 — outside the Crown Inn, which is located at 1306 N. Main St. in Brinkley.

Authorities believe both men have been involved in multiple crimes that started Wednesday, involving kidnapping, home invasion, robbery and gunfire at officers in Sardis and Batesville in Mississippi. Police also believe both suspects were involved in an armed robbery that occurred in West Helena on Thursday.

State police said they are continuing to work with Mississippi and federal authorities in their investigation concerning both suspects.
