A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody Friday after, police say, he committed a string of car break-ins within a two-day span.

Investigators believe the teen — who is being charged as a juvenile and has been taken to an unidentified juvenile detention center — broke into four different vehicles between Dec. 17 and 18 and stole several items, the Baxter County sheriff's office said in a statement Monday.

In one break-in, police say, the boy threw a rock at a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck's passenger window and stole a wallet, cash, credit cards and an iPhone. Police estimate the damage to the vehicle at $1,195.31.

Baxter County Chief Deputy Jeff Lewis said that the teen has no previous criminal history and investigators believe he worked by himself.

The teen, a Baxter County resident, has been charged in four class F felonies of breaking and entering, one class D felony of criminal mischief and four counts of class A misdemeanors of theft of property, according to the sheriff's office.
