Possible Garland County annexation election pushed back

HOT SPRINGS — A possible election to annex certain unincorporated areas of Garland County that are adjacent to Hot Springs' city limits has been pushed back.

The Sentinel-Record newspaper reported that the possible annexation election was pushed back from early March to at least April 8.

Hot Springs City Clerk Lance Spicer said he and other officials met last week regarding the date for a possible election.

Spicer said the county clerk allowed them to look at April instead of March.

The areas being examined include an unincorporated area south and east of the Bull Bayou area off U.S. 270 west.

In order to hold an election on April 8, Spicer said the board would need to adopt an ordinance to call the election no later than its Feb. 4 meeting.
