TULSA — Public school officials are looking at solutions to persistent overcrowding in east Tulsa elementary schools.
The Tulsa World newspaper reported that many schools are operating at higher occupancy rates since the school district kicked off an ongoing efficiency initiative with the shuttering of 14 mostly underenrolled school buildings in 2011.
Each winter since the initiative known as Project Schoolhouse began, public school administrators have conducted an annual site capacity review and the Tulsa School Board has approved adjustments to school boundaries to help balance out student enrollments among sites.
