Wanted Tennessee man, 21, arrested on bus near Texarkana

A 21-year-old Tennessee man wanted by authorities was arrested early Monday morning on a bus on Interstate 30 near Texarkana, Ark., Arkansas State Police said in a statement.

State police were notified about 2 a.m. that Trevein Reed — who police believe was involved in a Dyersburg, Tenn. slaying — may be traveling on a bus passing through southwest Arkansas, agency spokesman Bill Sadler said.

About 3:15 a.m., authorities with state police, Texarkana Police Department and the Hempstead County sheriff's office stopped the bus based on information they received from U.S. marshals, according to the statement.

Sadler said it wasn't immediately known where Reed had gotten on the bus or where his intended destination was. Reed is now being held pending extradition.

Sadler said he did not know if Reed had yet retained an attorney.

Phone calls to the Dyersburg Police Department were not immediately returned.
