Bus rider arrested after Marshals’ tip

A tip from the U.S. Marshals Service in Tennessee led Arkansas State Police to arrest a bus passenger wanted for a slaying in Tennessee.

According to state police officials, troopers, as well as local law enforcement, arrested Trevein Reed, 21, on Interstate 30 at about 3:15 a.m.

Reed was traveling by bus through the state and after getting a tip that Reed may be on the bus, troopers pulled the bus over in Hempstead County and arrested Reed.

State police officials said that Reed is a suspect in a recent killing in Dyersburg, Tenn.

But police officials in Dyersburg claim that Reed was wanted for an aggravated assault charge and not a homocide charge.

Calls to the Dyersburg Police Department were not returned Monday.

Bill Sadler, spokesman for the Arkansas State Police, said the information provided to them came directly from the U.S. Marshals office and that he was unaware of the discrepancy.
