Driver goes slow, charged with pot

Pulaski County sheriff ’s office investigators made a drug arrest after stopping a car Sunday morning for driving too slow.

According to a deputy’s report, a deputy spotted a white Prius driving 44 mph on a stretch of Interstate 30 about 4:45 a.m. The posted speed limit was 65 mph.

The deputy pulled the car over, and when he approached the driver immediately smelled marijuana.

The driver, Derek Johnson, 19, of Benton, told officers he had smoked marijuana at a friend’s house. During a search of the car, the deputy found marijuana hidden inside a pill bottle, according to the report.

Johnson was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and booked at the Pulaski County jail.

LR man: Girlfriend, her son robbed him

A Little Rock man told police he was robbed by his girlfriend and her son late Sunday afternoon.

Donnell Thomas, 51, was arguing early in the afternoon with his girlfriend, Vicki Roberts, 54, at their 4804 Manor Ave. home.

Roberts left, reports said, but returned with her son and two others. Thomas said he was forced out of his house by a gunman and another man carrying a knife.

The suspects forced Thomas to lie on the ground, and he heard his girlfriend yelling “make sure to take all his jewelry,” reports said.

Thomas also told police that Roberts’ son, 22-year-old Tyree Roberts, took his watch, necklace, phone and cash, and he told Thomas, “you’re not good enough for my mama.”

The robbery remained under investigation.

LR man stabbed

A Little Rock man was stabbed in the arm when he tried to confront a pair of men acting suspiciously outside his property Sunday morning.

Martin Cano, 44, stepped out of his house at 3000 Lewis St. around 3:30 a.m. after he heard some people outside the house near his cars.

When he confronted the men, one of them pulled a knife and stabbed him in the left arm before they ran off.

Cano’s wound was not life-threatening.

The suspects were described as black men dressed in dark clothes.
