Arkansas House set to vote on Veterans Home Task Force

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 1, 2013 at 7:05 a.m.

— The Arkansas House is scheduled to vote on whether to create a task force to study options for establishing a new state veterans home.

The lawmakers are to vote Friday on a bill that would form a 22-member Arkansas Veterans Home Task Force.

That group would be responsible for looking at the cost, funding sources and possible locations for a new veterans home.

The House voted earlier this week to authorize the state to create a new veterans home. The facility would replace the veterans home in Little Rock that closed last year.

The Senate has already voted to form the task force. If the House approves the measure Friday, the bill will head to the governor’s desk.
