Deaths of Stuttgart couple investigated

STUTTGART — Authorities in Arkansas County are investigating a double shooting that left a husband and wife dead.
Sheriff Allen Cheek says the shooting was reported at a home in Stuttgart on Wednesday night. Cheek says the husband and wife each had a single gunshot wound and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff told the Stuttgart Daily Leader that the bodies have been sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory for autopsies. He did not release the names of those killed.
Cheek says the investigation into the deaths is ongoing but says authorities do not believe robbery was involved.
