LITTLE ROCK Arkansas lawmakers have approved the creation of a task force to study options for establishing a new state veterans home.
The House voted 94-0 on Friday to form a 22-member Arkansas Veterans Home Task Force. That group would be responsible for looking at the cost, funding sources and possible locations for a new veterans home.
The facility would replace the veterans home in Little Rock that closed last year.
The House voted earlier this week to authorize the state to create a new veterans home, but lawmakers still need to find a funding source for the facility.
The Senate-approved measure to form the task force now heads to the desk of Gov. Mike Beebe, whose spokesman says he’ll sign the bill.
