— Police are looking for a man who robbed a Little Rock Walgreens at gunpoint early Saturday.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, officers were called shortly before 6:30 a.m. to the store at 3901 W. Markham St. after a man approached an employee behind the store, pointed a gun at her and then forced her and two others inside and into an office.

There, the man forced one of the employees to open the safe and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is described as a black man between 35 and 45 years old who stood about 5 foot 8 and weighed about 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black leather coat, a black shirt and black pants, and he had a black bandanna covering his face. He also wore white gloves.

No arrests have been made.

Well, if he is 35-45 years old that government would have been Richard Nixon or Gerald Ford.

LOL! Why don't the citizens of Little Rock get their police to host neighborhood meetings to work together on ways to reduce crime? I've seen it be effective in the city near here. I guess people think it's more productive to just go on line anonymously and blame the government and the whole black race.

Wendy's & Walgreens are patronized by black, white, Asian, Hispanic....and the employees usually represent all races too so it's everybody's problem. I really feel for the typically young employees having this fearful experience. It wouldn't bother me one bit to see someone pop out their concealed weapon and blow these robbers away!

jetjohn, haven't you ever worked with a black person, you know a black person who was WORKING? Do you not see the black people working at business you frequent? If not, you have really led a sheltered existence, which might be responsible for your warped views.

As far as police meetings, they would probably say to give up your belongings and head into the cooler....

I believe if you would talk to some of the residents of Fort Smith's Belle Grove Historic District and May Avenue/Lecta Historic District, you would learn that these meetings did help. Priorities were set and illegal activity is down.

Yep, we need everyone to voluntarily give up their guns. That will put an end to armed robberies right?

Neighborhood Watch groups are great. No one seriously believes a police officer can be everywhere at all times. It sounds to me like it is time for business owners to come up with their own security plan.
If business owners cannot provide security for their employees and their customers, they need to close their doors. If that means an armed guard, fine, but do something to put an end to the criminal taking the upper hand.

Many business owners are too cheap to have security devices that are effective at least part of the time. Smart business have cameras good enough to get an image recognizable to people who see the news. When really good shots are captured, it often leads to an arrest.
Panic buttons that clerks wear on their persons at all times can bring help quickly. Using a drop safe (once the clerk puts the money in, nobody can get money out until a manager comes by with a key) and bleeding the register frequently, with signs saying so, reduces expectations that there is enough money available to be worth the risk. More than one clerk on duty at a time raises the chances that some one will make it to a phone or escape to get help.
When I lived in the city, I belonged to a neighborhood watch, and they were effective. Back then, it was just being acquainted with each other enough to recognize strange cars, watch each other's property during absences, etc. Meetings with police to learn how to be less of a burglary target. Unfortunately, in today's gun crazed climate, some groups take it too far and have armed vigilantes taking the law into their own hands. That is creating a dangerous situation rather than preventing one.
