Police in Benton say they arrested a burglar at the Saline County Road Department after responding to an alarm there early Thursday.
The agency says 40-year-old Homer Smith is facing charges including commercial burglary, breaking or entering and theft of property. He was booked into the Saline County jail.
According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the road department about 12:40 a.m. Arriving officers reportedly noticed a person with a flashlight inside the main building and then arrested Smith as he tried to flee the premises.
Further investigation revealed a fence around the area had been cut and a smaller storage building had also been broken into.
Police say additional charges against Smith are possible.
