Pregnancy mental-health expert to speak at UAMS

— That bundle of joy can sometimes engender unexpected emotions.

An expert on mental health during and after pregnancy is to speak next week at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Tickets for the 11:30 a.m. talk by Dr. Zachary Stowe are $30 and include lunch and parking.

Stowe notes that between 60 percent and 80 percent of women experience sadness in one form or another after giving birth. One in 10 experiences serious postpartum depression.

Stowe's talk is part of the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute's "Beautiful Minds" series. His presentation is scheduled to be held in the UAMS Medical Center Lobby Gallery.
