Arkansas House panel approves whistleblower rewards

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 8, 2013 at 11:16 a.m.

— An Arkansas House panel has approved a measure allowing state employees to receive an award if they expose waste and inefficiencies that lead to savings for the state.

The House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs voted Friday to advance a proposal that would amend the state's whistleblower law. Under the bill, if an employee's report leads to savings for the state, the employee could receive 10 percent of those savings.

Republican Rep. Nate Bell is sponsoring the legislation. He said the financial incentive is needed to deter inefficiency in government. Some lawmakers on the panel said they were concerned it would cost the state money to investigate more reports of waste.

I hope Senator Jason Rapert of Conway is the first one to get caught! What the Republicans could not do on a national level they are doing state and locally! Women's Right's, I guess a woman can no longer think for herself! Minorities ? Are you stupid ? When you say that word people automatically think "People of Color" ! Who did you think you were trying to impress ... The KKK obviously ! I certainly hope you get voted out in the Midterms! You people in the T-Party are a bunch of fanatics!

Hey fasttony.. Why one would think you have a problem with the Republicans taking control in the Arkansas Legislature. Bet you don't have a problem with the progressives who want to control every facet of our lives. Do you?

I hope in my lifetime to see people like this go away for ever! Walking around as a Senator spewing racial divide is one thing! But doing it with conviction is only a KKK mentality. In a environment that will breed hate and deadly malice. Opinions are one thing, but believing is another. If this is what our children who have been through racial divide, and those that gave and fought have arrive at. Then we as a an emerging society, in a new century, are doing nothing to learn from our past. Men are judge on merit, no race! What is the price we must pay, when most of us are ignorant of its value!
