LITTLE ROCK A man and a woman were killed Thursday, after their sport utility vehicle ran off a Camden road and hit multiple trees.
Arkansas State Police say it happened shortly before noon as 29-year-old Stephens resident James M. Bevins was driving a 2011 Nissan Armada south on Arkansas 79.
According to a preliminary report, the Armada veered off the highway and struck several trees. Police say the road was dry and weather clear at the time.
Bevins and a passenger, identified as 24-year-old Shawna M. Bevins, were dead at the scene.
The two fatalities raise the total so far this year on Arkansas roads to 42, according to preliminary figures.
