CONWAY — Arkansas State Police said it is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday morning on Interstate 40 in Conway.
Police say troopers responded to a call of a drunk driver, westbound on Interstate 40 near mile marker 129 and the Dave Ward Drive exit. State Police received another call in the area shortly afterward, reporting a wrecked black Nissan truck.
Police say troopers found the driver, 31-year-old Jose Martinez of Conway, in the pickup. Martinez was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Martinez's body was taken to the state crime laboratory for an autopsy.
State Police are continuing to investigate, but believe someone pulled up beside Martinez and shot him.
