— The Bible Church of Little Rock was the setting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, for the marriage of Melissa Sue Nelson and Christian Matthew Olson. Tim Senn officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Debbie and Steve Nelson, 4703 Gooch Drive. She is the granddaughter of Patti and Arnie Nelson of Van Buren and the late Vivian and Kent Dorathy of Murfreesboro.

Parents of the groom are Susan and Craig Olson, 4108 Wesley Drive. He is the grandson of the late Lois and Carl Olson of Twain Harte, Calif., and Norma and the late John Lyle of Menlo Park, Calif.

The chancel held large vases of garden roses, hydrangeas, snapdragons and ranunculus. Music was by pianist Martha Rosenbaum, organist Eloise Stowe, and vocalists Alison and Shawn Crane.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of satin and silk with a bateau neckline and embellished with lace. The pleated skirt had a sash at the waist. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

Maid of honor was Lydia Saugey of Little Rock. Bridesmaids were Colette Nelson of Sherwood; Melissa Moore of Pea Ridge, sister of the groom; Jeanne Lewis of Cumming, Ga.; and Emily Hornok of Little Rock.

They wore berry-red, knee-length satin dresses with off-the-shoulder necklines and rhinestone brooches. Their bouquets were filled with white hydrangeas, ranunculus and garden roses.

Flower girl was Vivian Moore of Pea Ridge, niece of the groom.

Carl Olson of Little Rock served as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Nathan Olson and Stephen Olson, both also of Little Rock and brothers of the groom; Mark Moore of Pea Ridge; and Bradley Nelson of Sherwood, brother of the bride.

Guests were seated by Greg Nelson of Houston, uncle of the bride; Mike Hile of Cabot, cousin of the bride; Joel Borgquist of Leesburg, Va.; Jason Davis of Little Rock; Nicholas Horton of Searcy; Josh Mesker of Shannon Hills; and Nicholas Stehle of Benton.

A reception at the church followed the ceremony. Tables covered in white cloths with black overlays were centered with mercury glass vases filled with red roses. Assisting were Vickie Constien and Susan Kelton.

The bride graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She has a master’s degree incommunicative disorders from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a speech-language pathologist.

The groom graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He is an analyst for the Commissioner of State Lands.

After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Little Rock.
