LITTLE ROCK — A Heber Springs man was killed early Thursday after the sport utility vehicle he was driving veered off a Cleburne County highway and hit a tree.
Arkansas State Police say 54-year-old Melton Wiedeman was driving a 2001 Chevy Blazer north on Arkansas 25 shortly before 1 a.m. when the vehicle ran off the road in a curve in Tumbling Shoals.
According to a preliminary report, the Blazer then struck a tree. Wiedeman died from unspecified injuries.
Wiedeman was the 50th person to die in a traffic accident on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
