— An Arkansas House panel says the state should eliminate the statute of limitations for certain sex crimes against minors.

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved the measure after hearing from two supporters of the proposal who said they were abused as minors.

Current law in Arkansas limits prosecution for certain sex crimes involving minors to cases in which victims abused as children are under a certain age.

The proposed legislation advanced by the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday would allow prosecution in certain cases when victims who were abused as children come forward at any age.

The measure heads to the full House for consideration.
