Senate GOP blocks Hagel vote for now

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 14, 2013 at 4:19 p.m.

— Republicans have, for now, blocked Chuck Hagel's nomination to become defense secretary.

The Senate came up two votes short of the 60 needed to move Hagel's nomination forward as lawmakers prepare to leave town for a week's break. Democrats hold a 55-45 edge in the Senate.

Republicans had been blocking the confirmation of their former colleague and Vietnam veteran until they received information from the White House on President Barack Obama's actions during the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

The White House responded to that request earlier Thursday, saying Obama spoke with Libyans a day after the attack.

Republicans don't care about America...only about "winning." They'll be extinct if they keep this crap up; people are sick of these puerile antics. I predict that in 2014, they'll look at the 2012 election as the "good old days," comparatively speaking.

Can't happen soon enough. The Party of "No," AKA The Party of Stupid (Well put, Gov. Jindal!) will soon be as relevant as an 8-track tape player.

Both parties are so stupid they don't realize their own arrogance until its too late. Since the 80's how long has either kept power in all 3? Everyone gets tired of all the crap they force on us so we get changes. If the Dems get control of Congress in 2014 and tries it everyone will know who John Galt is.

I think the Republican Party showed today that they are going to continue their Obama First term obstructionism throughout the Obama second term.

So America get ready for Republicans blocking everything the Democrats try to do to help America, their goal still the same - keep Obama from getting elected again. Maybe someone should tell the Republican Party that they don 't have to worry about Obama getting elected again, he can't run again. If he could though, he would be elected to a third term. Republicans don't like American people. That much is clear.

I'm thinking the terrorists we have to be careful of are in Washington D C. They have deserted their elected positions, and should be treated as such. They care not for this country or its people only themselves, getting re-elected, getting all they can while they can, while protecting their rich friends. The word is GREED! They are a bunch of self serving fools. If they were compared to chicken manure, the chicken manure would win. At least there's a purpose for it.

So much for Harry Reid wimping out on filibuster reform. And the Republican obstructionists are at it again. What is Congress's approval rating? A negative number?
