Driver dies after car hit by truck

LITTLE ROCK — An 83-year-old Des Arc man died Thursday after the car he was driving was hit by a truck in Prairie County, authorities said.
Arkansas State Police say Roy E. Roach was driving a 1991 Chevy Caprice north attempting to cross Arkansas 70 onto Arkansas 63. The car was then struck by a 1990 Marmon truck that was heading west on Arkansas 70, according to a report.
Roach was dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
Roach was the 51st person to die in a traffic accident on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
