— Authorities say a person of interest wanted for questioning in a fatal shooting in Searcy has been arrested in North Little Rock.

Brittany Eacret, a spokesman for the Searcy Police Department, said Kelon Lamar Jackson, 25, was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Investigators were reportedly heading to Pulaski County to question Jackson in the shooting death of Mahala Hutchins earlier Friday.

Eacret said police were dispatched about 9:15 a.m. to St. Charles Apartments in the 400 block of Sherwood Drive. There, officers found Hutchins in the street outside with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body.

Hutchins was taken to White County Hospital, where she died.

It wasn't clear how Jackson was identified as a person of interest.
