— U.S. 79B in Pine Bluff will be closed temporarily Sunday, Feb. 24, for crews to remove a pedestrian bridge near the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff campus, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials said in a news release Friday.

AHTD said the work will begin at 6 a.m. and be completed at noon, weather permitting. Officials said Reeker and Spruce Streets and Oliver Road will be used as detours during the work.

U.S. 79B will reopen no later than noon, according to officials. AHTD asks churches in the area to inform their congregations and make necessary arrangements.

Officials ask motorists to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
