Hot Springs nearing end of storm debris cleanup

— Hot Springs officials said cleanup of debris from the Christmas Day winter storm is nearing completion.

Deputy City Manager Bill Burrough says crews have been collecting debris for six weeks and that only two or three more weeks are needed.

The Sentinel-Record reports that city workers have picked up more than 1,100 tons of debris created by the storm, which dumped 10 inches of snow on central Arkansas.

In Little Rock, the city has just signed a contract with a company to pick up brush piles that have decorated city streets since the thaw that followed the heavy snow event.
