Panther Expedited Services names new CEO, COO

Panther Expedited Services Inc., a logistics-services firm and subsidiary of Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp., said Monday that it has appointed R. Louis Schneeberger as its new president and chief executive officer.

The Seville, Ohio-based wholly owned subsidiary also announced Edward Wadel’s appointment as chief operating officer.

Panther’s president and CEO since 2007, Andrew Clarke, has resigned from the company, Panther said.

“Panther thanks Andy for his service to the company and wishes him well in his future endeavors,” Panther’s management said in a statement. “Under his leadership, Panther evolved from a regional expedited trucking company into a global logistics provider, offering premium ground, air and ocean solutions to customersaround the world.”

Schneeberger, who joined Panther in 2010 as chief financial officer and treasurer, was involved in last June’s deal in which Arkansas Best bought Panther from private-equity firm Fenway Partners LLC of New York for about $180 million.

Wadel has served as Panther’s chief information officer since 2006 and is credited with helping to develop many of Panther’s original information-technology systems since the company was founded in 1992.
