Police: Man throws cinder block at car with kids in it

— A 34-year-old Jacksonville man is accused of throwing a cinder block at his ex-wife's car while she and two children were inside the vehicle and a third was standing outside it.

Ronald L. Webster Jr. is facing preliminary charges of aggravated assault on a family member, first-degree criminal mischief and three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

According to a Jacksonville Police Department report, it happened about 7:15 p.m. Sunday as Webster's ex-wife was taking her three children to Webster's residence in the 1000 block of Oakhurst Drive.

Upon arrival, a heated argument started between Webster and his ex-wife, the report said. One of the three children got out of the vehicle and the other two were in the back seats when Webster "picked up a cinder block and threw it at her vehicle," and it smashed into the window, police wrote in the report.

The child who was outside the vehicle told investigators he "attempted to jump in front of the cinder block because he thought it was going to smash into the rear passenger window where his little sister ... was sitting."

It wasn't clear whether anyone suffered any injuries.

Webster is being held in the Pulaski County jail with no bail pending an initial appearance in Jacksonville District Court.
