— SUN BELT UALR 6, EVANSVILLE 5

Bryson Thionnet hit a sixth-inning home run and hit an RBI triple and scored in the eighth to help UALR to a second consecutive victory over Evansville on Sunday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

Thionnet’s three-run home run capped UALR’s four-run sixth inning and got the Trojans (2-1) within 5-4. Myles Parma’s RBI single earlier in the inning scored Ben Crumpton.

Thionnet’s eight-inning triple scored Blake Johnson, who singled earlier, and Thionnet later scored on a passed ball, which served as the game-winner.

Dillon Moritz then pitched around a single and an error in the ninth to earn his first victory for UALR.

Trojans starter Ethan Schlechte gave up 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and struck out 4 over 3 1/3 innings.

Jake Naumann was stuck with the loss for Evansville (1-2), after giving up 1 run on 1 hit in 2/3 of an inning.

ARKANSAS STATE 12, BRADLEY 2

JONESBORO - Zach George hit an RBI single and Stuart Levy hit a two-run double to spark a six-run first inning to help Arkansas State complete a season opening sweep of Bradley at Tomlinson Stadium.

ASU (3-0) added two runs in the sixth and four in the eighth and had 13 hits as a team.

George, Kaleb Brown and Alex Potts each had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Red Wolves.

Freshman Adam Grantham didn’t allow a run and held Bradley (0-3) to 2hits and walked 3 while striking out 5 in 4 innings of his first start.

SOUTHLAND CENTRAL ARKANSAS 6, MURRAY STATE 5 (12 INN.)

CONWAY - Michael Marietta scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th inning to complete Central Arkansas’ comeback victory and cap a season opening sweep at Bear Stadium.

Marietta led off the 12th with a double, moved to third on Ethan Harris’ ground out and scored on Sheldon Baxter’s wild pitch.

The victory came after the Bears (3-0) beat the Thoroughbreds 10-1 and 13-1 in the first two games of the series, but entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 5-2.

Kraig Kelley, who was 3 for 4, and Garrett Brown each drew walks to lead off the ninth and Nick Rougeau was hit by a pitch. Forrestt Allday then doubled to left-center to make it 5-4 and Blake Marchal hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game.

Allday was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Connor McClain earned the victory after striking out the only batter he faced in the 12th.

SWAC ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 5, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 4

PINE BLUFF - Dwayne Hysmith scored in the bottom of the 13th innings on a North Dakota State error to give Arkansas-Pine Bluff a victory at the Torii Hunter Complex.

Hysmith was hit by a pitch to lead off the 13th, moved to second on a walk and scored when Isias Alcantar grounded out to the shortstop and North Dakota State first baseman Wes Satzinger couldn’t handle the throw to complete a double play.

Dylan Calhoun and Cody DeMara each had three hits and UAPB (2-1) had 15 hits as a team. Kirby Campbell went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and scored a run for the Golden Lions.

UAPB starter Jim Ploeger gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out 4 over 7 innings. Redmond Floyd earned the victory after pitching three hitless innings and striking out four.
