Jobs announcement set for Clinton

— Gov. Mike Beebe is set to help unveil new jobs in Clinton on Wednesday.

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission said Beebe would join local and company leaders at 245 Quality Drive for an announcement at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials described it as a "significant job creation announcement," but no other details were released.

Clinton Mayor Roger Rorie said he couldn't divulge anything about the development before the news conference.

"Oh, I've heard a little bit about it," he said by phone. "But I'm not saying anything until tomorrow."

The address for the announcement is the location of The Ozark Health Foundation, according to its website. A spokesman reached at a number listed on the site said he couldn't release any information.

According to the site, the foundation is "dedicated to improving healthcare in Searcy and Van Buren County in Arkansas" through support of scholarships, grant applications and buying medical equipment for the Ozark Health Medical Center and Ozark Health Nursing Center.

Messages left with the foundation director and with the Clinton Chamber of Commerce wasn't immediately returned.
