— Winter weather sweeping through the area has forced the delay or postponement of several regional basketball tournaments around the state.

Six tournaments will start late Wednesday or be pushed back a day, according to the Arkansas Activities Association.

In all, four of the tournaments will start Thursday instead of Wednesday: the Class 1A, Region 1, tournament at County Line High School in Branch; the Class 2A, West Region, tournament at Magazine High School; the Class 3A, Region 1, tournament at Paris High School; and the Class 4A, North Region, tournament at Maumelle High School.

Two others have had their start time moved from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday: the Class 1A, Region 2, tournament at Hillcrest High School in Strawberry and the Class 2A, North Region, tournament at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden.

No other tournament sites are scheduled for delays.
