— Arkansas' baseball game against Evansville is still scheduled to be played at 3:05 p.m. Friday, Razorbacks coach Dave Van Horn said, though officials are closely watching a winter storm that began to move in Wednesday.

Van Horn said if field conditions are poor Friday, a doubleheader could be scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday. Forecasts call for partly sunny conditions Saturday with a high of 56 degrees, and sunny conditions Sunday with a high of 47.

Washington County is under a winter storm warning through Thursday. Moderate snow fell in Fayetteville early Wednesday and ice accumulation is expected overnight. The University of Arkansas closed at 2 p.m. and canceled all remaining classes Wednesday.

The Razorbacks were scheduled to play New Orleans on Wednesday afternoon, but pushed the second game up to Tuesday. Arkansas won both games in the doubleheader, 14-0 and 3-0.

Baseball isn't the only sport that could potentially be impacted by the winter weather. Arkansas' basketball team is scheduled to host Georgia on Thursday at 6 p.m. and the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships begin at Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.
