BISMARCK — The National Weather Service says straight-line winds were behind the destruction of a home and barn in Bismarck.
Forecaster John Robinson said Tuesday that people in the area believed Monday’s storm spun off a tornado that caused the damage. Robinson says photos taken by residents showed a cloud formation that could be mistaken for a tornado.
And the damage appeared severe enough to have been caused by a twister. The house was blown off its foundation.
But, Robinson said, most of the debris was to the east of the house, consistent with a storm moving west to east. A tornado would have scattered the debris.
