— Some electric customers around Arkansas were still in the dark Friday morning after a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain moved through the region, bringing down lines and taking out power.

Shortly before 10 a.m., Entergy reported more than 2,700 customers without electricity, down from 6,500 early Thursday night. The bulk of the power failures were in Independence County, with more than 1,600.

First Electric Cooperative had about 100 power failures spread among Cleburne, Conway and Independence counties.

North Arkansas Electric reported nearly 200 customers in the dark in Baxter, Fulton and Sharp counties. Southwestern Electric Power Co. and Craighead Electric Cooperative didn't show any outages on their websites.

Ice accumulations ranged from a tenth of an inch to three-quarters of an inch in the northern third of the state.
