Central Arkansas pitcher Bryce Biggerstaff was named national pitcher of the week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday.

Biggerstaff, a junior right-hander, threw the program's second no-hitter Sunday in the Bears' 13-0 win over Jackson State in Conway. The Sherwood native struck out a career-high nine batters and walked none, missing on a perfect game when he hit a batter in the sixth inning.

UCA improved to 6-1 this season after winning all three games over the weekend. In addition to two wins over Jackson State, the Bears beat Kansas 9-3 on Saturday.
