Red Lobster in Little Rock was robbed at gunpoint by four men who made off with cash while the popular restaurant was open and serving dinner.
It happened shortly before 8:45 p.m. Monday at the location at 8407 W. Markham St. A Little Rock Police Department report shows more than 20 people were in the restaurant at the time, including workers and customers.
According to the report, four men — including at least one who was armed with a handgun — were sitting in a vehicle outside before getting out and forcing an employee inside at gunpoint.
The workers and customers were forced into the main eating area and onto the floor while the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Benton resident Kendra Criddle said she was finishing her meal at the restaurant with her husband and two sons, 5 and 7, when she looked up and saw the gunman. The robber forced them and others into a different room where they were held them at gunpoint while other robbers took cash from elsewhere in the business.
"I was kind of scared," Criddle said Tuesday. "I had only seen that on TV before. I had never seen anything like that in real life."
Criddle said her two sons "handled it pretty well considering what happened."
No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.
The robbers are described as black men. One wore a light blue hoodie; one wore a black plaid jacket and black hoodie; and one wore a black and blue plaid jacket, a black hoodie, gray jeans and black shoes.

Really makes me want to take the kids out to dinner in Little Rock! No one has said anything about the poor kids who were held at gunpoint in the comments. This alone should raise the crime to a DEATH SENTANCE! My ex had a 9mm pointed at her in the RiverMarket and it took ALONG time and much counseling for her to deal with that. (LRPD saved the day that time) Just think how much trust these kids have lost trust I the world.

DEMOCRATREPUBLICAN, would you have been capable of drawing a concealed weapon and putting all 4 rabid dogs down before one got off a shot at you or one of the other innocents ? I bet not, I know 4 perps is way above my abilities and most CCL holders and most police officers too. The "gang" approach is a new twist to the epidemic.

DEMOCRATREPUBLICAN, I don't think a single CCW holder is much match for these dogs when they're hunting in packs (at least I know I'm not). You can't outdraw a drawn weapon. Even if only one had shown a weapon it doesn't mean the others weren't armed. I CCW often, and if I had been there I -think- I would only have drawn if things had already gone (further) south. To much risk if lead isn't already flying...

And as far as LevyRat's comment - I have to agree- the Mayor promised reduced crime if the sales tax passed. He got his gift from voters, and other than some new police vehicles, where is this great reduction in crime that was promised?
Looking more and more like Little Rock is deserving of the nasty listing it received as a violent city in America...

@TheBatt: I thought that was Pine Bluff on the "violent cities" list (second only to Detroit); AFAIK LR wasn't high enough to make the news. Still, Red Lobster cuts too close to Stodola's main constituency for him to ignore. And even liberals agree that "ghetto culture" (*NOT* to be confused with black culture as some of you do) is crappy; the problem is conservatives don't want to pay for the PIT programs liberals think will fix it, and liberals don't want more cops without PIT (or for some, even *WITH* PIT).

All of the talk about would have, could have and should have drawn your weapon, assuming you have a concealed carry permit, is not answerable unless you had been there. It could have led to a disaster for a lot of innocent people BUT depending on the person carrying and the degree of their ability to not only maintain calm and composed but to know their level of accuracy and ability to put a quick plan of action together such as who to shoot first and so on, it could have been one hell-of-a-lesson and major deterrent to these black thugs that have to be stopped at some point! This includes any white criminals as well.
My suggestion to everyone that has or gets a cc permit is to go to the gun range and practice, practice, practice! Practice always with the weapon you are going to carry and carry that weapon when out and about. Take carrying a gun and using it serious.
Just getting the permit is easy but KNOWING FOR SURE that you can and WILL pull your weapon and shoot to kill someone is the most important part. Mental preparation is so important and it can be the hardest part. Read books, practice, and take carrying serious. When you KNOW YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH, you can do your part in stopping this crap! Criminals can only be stopped through FEAR and killing a load of these thugs/hoods will put FEAR in the heads of the others thinking about committing these crimes!

Harley is right.
There's no evidence showing that persons of different ethnic groups have more than superficial genetic differences. The genetic variation within ethnic groups is at least as great, if not greater than, the variation *between* ethnic groups, while behavior varies widely between different cultural groups sharing similar ethnic backgrounds.
It's thug culture.
We cannot\will not change that.
We CAN suppress it and reduce its effects.
Thugs understand the big smackdown. Stop being a victim.

Generations of white flight left some inner cities without the tax base to maintain a quality of life. In some cities the tide has turned. In the city near me, people have been restoring the old Victorian homes and living in them for over thirty years now. More recently, the downtown has started attracting more actual residents. Nice loft apartments and the kind of stores required by residents are in place. People who choose to live downtown have apartments, secure parking, groceries, gas, two downtown parks, a riverfront venue for concerts, plus shopping and night life available.
White flight began in the sixties when a certain type of people thought they were too good to have black neighbors or send their children to school with black children, or to the public pool with black children. They took the tax base with them and left only the poorest to pay taxes to operate the inner cities.

inquire....Are you suggesting that white people shouldn't move up in the world and purchase the new homes that provide money to the builders and start new residential areas that give their families better surroundings and usually lead to new and better schools and larger taxes to the city just because a black family moves into the current neighborhood? If a black family moves into a neighbor hood then white people should feel an obligation to NEVER move, just upgrade and remodel their old houses? I have changed my mind about you....YOU ARE CRAZY!!
NOT everyone wants a older victorian house and NOT everyone wants to live downtown....what in hells name is your point?

I remember the sixties and the start of white flight, including the period before the controversial busing. I am cognizant that not everyone wants to live in a Victorian or downtown. The POINT is that at that time, unnaturally high numbers of people were leaving the cities for just the snobbish reasons mentioned, and taking an unusual percentage of the tax base with them.
In normal times, people were more evenly divided between groups who loved their home and chose to stay in it, rather than be on the move to newer and "better" homes in the suburbs. They liked stability and the cultural amenities of the city, and they were the kind of people who put down roots. There were more people who chose to live literally in the city to be close to things, rather than spend a lot of time maintaining a large lawn or a lot of money commuting. The normal number who chose to move to the suburbs was not detrimental to the city tax base.
It was the unnaturally high concentration of people moving to the suburbs all at once that was detrimental to the tax base of the inner cities.
There have been quite a few books written on this subject, and I don't believe any of the authors have been accused of being crazy. You just keep right on being rude and insulting, Harley. It shines a light on you.

inquire....I like a good shining light!
Where did you grow up? I grew up in the south, early on in Dallas Texas. We lived in the city not far from the Texas State Fair and the Cotton Bowl. South Dallas was at that time, 1952, becoming a desired area for blacks, actually we and they called themselves colored people, I grew up around coloreds for a few years. I remember our neighborhood whites selling their homes to coloreds at quite a fast pace. My dad sold our home in 1954 to a colored family. He did so because they offered the most money. My dad told me later on in life that most of the other whites did for the same reason. The homes were old and not in great shape and the street was gravel. Also the homes were mostly 2 bedrooms and there was 7 of us kids and my mother wanted a bigger house. Probably most, I know a lot did, of the other neighbors had several kids and that was just the way it was in that time. You see, there weren't that many kids aborted in the 50's and therefore larger families! We sold for the money and moved 40 miles south of Dallas into a 2 bedroom shack in the country. My dad had great expectations of adding on to the home and such but invested the family money in cattle. That year was the worst drought in the history of Texas and my dad lost everything! Thus the reason I continued to live and work around blacks until my junior year in high school. We picked cotton, pulled bolls, hauled hay, plowed and many other works and played together as kids. The Dallas schools fully intergrated in 1966 the year after I graduated high school. After that blacks and whites didn't get along anymore. The city closed the new black school and added portable buildings to the white campus and the two colors were cramped in classes and at that time the blacks were bused to the former white school which was about 4 miles away from the newer but shut down black school. Things never got that much better after that even with the mix continuing until this day.

harley1305121514 says... February 28, 2013 at 4:54 p.m.
inquire cont.....I tell you that story for two reasons. First, whites moving out and blacks moving in wasn't totally because whites thought they were better! When you are poor, black or white, YOU KNOW YOU ARE POOR! It's real hard to feel you are better than anything when you are on the bottom! BUT..when opportunity knocks, or at least in our case just thought it was knocking, people try to take advantage of it. The houses weren't worth much but the selling of the house made TWO families of DIFFERENT color happier than they were before, at least for a little while in my families case. No one was running from anything.....we thought we were running towards better things!
Now I already know you (or Populist the great) are going to say that not all white people that sold their houses when blacks happened to move into their neighborhood to get a profit and move up in the world. You will say, and be correct, that some sold and took to white flight just because of the blacks moving in! BUT...why do you (or Populist) feel that those white people didn't have the right to move for their own reasons regardless of why they chose to? If a white person doesn't want to live in the same neighborhood as a black person that person has EVERY RIGHT to their want to move and not care one little bit about what people like you and Populist think or feel! You do see that don't you? Hell if I met you or Populist in my neighborhood (I'm not sure either of you could afford my neighborhood) I'd put my home on the market the next day! Call it white flight if you want to but I would call it MY CHOICE!!
People like you are the ones creating the problems! Let the black people speak for themselves and you stay the hell out of what isn't effecting you!

Harley, the discussion about white flight started simply because DemocratRepublican posed the question why inner cities were often bad places to live. I never said people didn't have a right to move. I talked about what happens when they all move at once.
I grew up in an attractive, but not affluent neighborhood in Northwest Arkansas, the child of working class parents. I now live in the River Valley area.
(NoUserName, we didn't have cars or garbage in the yard and my parents were known for keeping a beautiful lawn. When my parents neared retirement age and had us children raised, they totally redid the house. It was only sold, for four times the purchase price, when later my widowed mother remarried and moved to live with her new husband. My parents weren't the kind of people who moved around, and certainly wouldn't have moved just because someone else was moving into the neighborhood, or because someone else wanted their house. There are just as many whites as blacks who don't keep their property up as they should, and not being affluent doesn't necessarily mean that you don't keep your property up.)
In my youth I did see a wonderful example of people digging in and preventing white flight when their neighborhood was integrated. An aunt and uncle who lived in the San Fernando Valley in an attractive middle class area worked with the group who kept the neighborhood intact. When the first black family moved in, there was the usual consternation and rush to call the realtors that happened back then. Ignorant people thought their property value would go down and they had to get out. The group went door to door visiting with every family, telling them that it was only when everyone rushed to move away that property values went down, that if they would just stay, accept the newcomers, and not move until they really had a reason, the neighborhood would retain its' value and remain a nice place to live. They calmed people down, nearly everyone stayed. When my family visited there, there were several black families, but there had not been a mass white flight. Because homes weren't going on the market at an unnatural rate, property values remained good. The people all got acquainted, had block parties twice a year, and realized that integration really changed nothing, except that the blacks and whites knew each other.

But it made some blacks happy who hired the walker firm (who has made millions off this) that I had to drive past 8 schools to get to the one the government said I had to go to. I lived near cantrell road that was used as a redristricting boundary and I had life long friends that lived on the other side of cantrell (within walking distance of my house) that were torn apart and sent to different schools to make someone happy.

DemocratRepublican,
Busing was a mistake caused by the failure of whites to spend appropriate amounts of money on black schools and by intrusiveness of courts trying to correct the problem. Blacks and whites are living together in a community and need to work TOGETHER to ensure that all children in the community prosper. People need to stop obsessing about the color of other people's skin, and just work harder to be the best person that he or she can be.

Hey inquire - "snobbish reasons...." This is as arrogant and mean-spirited as anything you have ever posted. Concerned parents left the LRSD because they loved their kids and would not stand for them to be used as pawns by liberal social engineers (forced busing). In addition to white flight, our inner cities are overrun with entitlement addicts because of urban renewal's creation of government funded housing projects. The "projects" mentality is foundational to an entitlement mentality. Failed liberal social policies are at the root of all the major problems facing America today (crime, poverty, lack of education). As a self-proclaimed liberal pat yourself on the back, and watch as America sinks into the abyss.

Packman,
The Blue states are doing pretty well. I agree that welfare is not productive, but neither is this Red state attitude that education is unimportant. We all need to support personal responsibility and enable people to help themselves. We need to spend on education and workfare. We need to explain to people that welfare will be no more. We need to encourage people to live better.

I also believe in neighborhood schools. White people who looked the other way while black and white schools weren't equal, or who left a neighborhood en mass to avoid integration bear some responsibility for the busing debacle that followed.
Parents who run from the schools as if their kids are better than others teach a poor lesson. My parents, despite working long hours, were involved at my schools and active in the PTA, as well as attending some school board meetings and acting as chaperones at some events. If you don't like your school, work to influence changes instead of running away from it. It is a valuable example.
I wonder what world some of you live in. If you check the statistics on welfare, food stamps, etc., more whites are on most of the programs than blacks, and very nearly equal on others. There is too much assuming that most blacks are part of some entitlement culture and don't work. Most every business I visit has blacks working there. I have worked with blacks, and did my husband and my parents. Do you people choose to not SEE all these hard working black folks? Does it not register?
No one on here seems nearly as bothered by all the white trash that is getting far MORE of the food stamp and welfare and subsidized housing money.
Oh, yeah, Packman, working class Democrats like myself who come from a long line of home owners who never got a dime of welfare or food stamps and worked all our lives, we are SO the problem. NOT.

It's quite nice that you have a black secretary and that your granddaughter has a black friend. However, you sometimes use language that is by its tone racist. Terms such as "Black thugs" or "just an every day happening in the lives of young black males" suggest that ALL black people or young black males are no good. Imagine that you are a young black male honor student and you read things such as that. You would be quite insulted. While some ethnic groups may be statistically more likely to possess certain traits, people should be judged for their own actions and conduct and not for those of others who have that skin color.

First, If the crime IS committed by a "black male" and criminals "ARE thugs" then why would I call them anything else? You are the smart one so tell me, what should I call the criminal and why am I wrong to speak the truth? NOW YOU STARTED THIS SO ANSWER MY QUESTION!
Now I will answer your question about if I were a black honor student. NO and why should I be insulted by the TRUTH? Ashamed of someone the same race as myself being a thug BUT NOT insulted when what was said was the TRUTH!!
Populist.....you want to know why I question you being a lawyer? Lawyers should know about TRUTH and the importance of TRUTH and HONESTY in life. By God you show way too often that the TRUTH isn't that important to you!!
I want to be nice now so, Answer my question as I asked it and NOT with one of your running at the mouth detailed history lessons or anything about what things are like in Maryland for God's sake!
If you tell the TRUTH and the TRUTH consist of a black male committing a crime.......then why am I coming across as a racist for stating such?

Populist....being a lawyer please tell me, how would you say the police should go about arresting criminals without a detailed discription of that criminal? Wouldn't it help law enforcement to act more quickly if they know what race they are looking for and whether the criminal is young or old or in between? Maybe lawyers are holding back the ability of the police to capture criminals and preventing the law from being enforced by judges with this Populist way of thinking! Also, is the witness person also a racist for giving the police the true discription if it happens to be a young black male?
Please answer this question also. I am eagerly awaiting your answers to both of my post!!

Hey Populist - America needs education REFORM, and not more spending into a system everyone acknowledges is broken. And it is simply idiotic to say someone is against education simply because they support reform over additional spending. Anyone with any education would know better..........
He inquire - "White people....who left a neighborhood en mass to avoid integration bear some responsibility for the busing debacle that followed." Here you go again with the arrogant and mean-spirited talk. These parents didn't leave to avoid integration. They left because they didn't want their 1st grader bused across town to satisfy the whims of the liberal mindset; they left because they wanted their kids in a school district where the parents had more control than a federal judge; they left because their kids could no longer go to school or play on sports teams with their lifelong friends; they left because that's what good parents do - what they think is in the best interests of their kids. And don't lie. If your parents are the kind of people you say they too would have left in the face of such nonsense. And since someone has already taken you to the woodshed about your false claims about welfare recepients, I'll leave that alone. And if you vote demorat, you are part of the problem regardless of whence you came. YES.

White flight started before busing. Good parents work with the school system to make it better, they don't abandon it. Bloom where you are planted.
I find it hilarious that you call me mean spirited, Harley. You and your cyber pals write the most mean spirited stuff I have ever seen, literally trying to bully people away. Then when you don't agree with perfectly reasonable things others say, you call THEM mean spirited.
Your pals have said they hoped some liberals got shot in Little Rock, and accused me of tying my husband up in the basement. Now THAT is mean spirited. One of your pals favorite solution to everything is "two to the chest, one to the head." All of you need to get a grip if you think I am mean spirited. You are just mad because I don't buy into your world view and I never will.

Hmm...my kids are going to go to private school. How interesting that this apparently makes me a bad parent. Or that, having been given the CHOICE by my parents, and ultimately choosing MYSELF to go to private high school, that my parents are apparently bad parents too. Of course, I'm sure the LRSD is happy as can be that I support them with my property taxes yet provide no child for them to waste money on.

Inquire,
People have to send their kid to the best school for that child. While my kids go to public schools, we picked the neighborhood based upon the schools. If either of my kids needed to go to a private school, it would not bother me to be transferred. If I moved back to Little Rock, I would have no problem sending the boys to Catholic High after I checked out the programs at Central and Parkview. I would not let my kids go to Hall. Even if you send your kids to a private school and even if you have no children, it is in the best interests of the community and the economy to have well educated and happy kids in the community so everybody should support the local schools.

Populist....you won't answer my question will you? You placed a post to inquire this morning so you could have answered.
You having to answer the truth is extremely hard for you to do isn't it?
When I point out something that is fact and the truth according to police reports, NOT MY reports, and they happen to be about black male criminals and criminals are "thugs" then according to YOU and your post I MUST BE A RACIST! That IS what you said! Why am I a racist for saying exactly what is in print in the ADG and on line? I have said numerous times that "I AM NOT A RACIST" only "A REALIST"! A realist will realize that the TRUTH is the ONLY way for a person to live. It is a shame people like you and inquire and others refuse to accept the truth.
You have NOTHING that is factual that I am a racist yet you continue to post such! You, if a lawyer, should know better! You, as the person you continually try to make everyone believe you are (you know "goody two shoes") should apologize to me! If what I say about myself is true then you continue to call me "a liar"!
Now let's address the name calling issue you and inquire, two of the biggest hypocrites around, have such a problem with! You and inquire are calling me a liar so why is it wrong for me to call you two idiots?

Democrat Republican,
I've never noticed any pattern of discrimination against whites in Little Rock or America. I don't think that we need to worry about the effects of racism against us whites.
What the &^%$ do you think affirmative action is? The truth is not what you want to hear. You just want to live in your fantasy land utopia.

She don't want no part of the truth. I bet she is so brainwashed in leftist liberalsim that she does not think Affirmative Action is discrimination. And what about all these voting district drawn in america that look like a elongated dumbell connected by a narrow strip of land (like a highway) to ensure that blacks get their person in office? Is That not discrimination?
