Boozman, Pryor urge Keystone Pipeline approval

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 27, 2013 at 7:17 a.m.

— Arkansas’ Senate delegation has joined a coalition of senators from both parties to urge approval of the Keystone Pipeline.

Republican Sen. John Boozman and Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor on Tuesday joined a group of 20 senators who want to see the pipeline get the green light.

The pipeline would move oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast. A segment from Cushing, Okla., to the Texas Gulf Coast recently marked its halfway completion point.

Pryor says failing to approve the northern portion of the pipeline would hurt America’s energy self-sufficiency goals. Boozman says the project will provide jobs and reduce energy prices.

I hope pryor gets replaced by a true republican, as he is a blue dog democrat.
Boozeman says it will reduce energy prices, what an idiot!

if we did not have pryor 780,000 folks in arkansas would not get the health care exchange from the obama care and would be without health care! i hope all arkansas are grateful for Mark's standing up for what is right and not intimidated by the republican cowboys that have taken over arkansas. Mark has millions on his side. not just the special interest groups.

Depending on Pryor's votes this session, he may very well be replaced in the next election.

It needs to be done. A lot of it is already completed and most of the pipe is already here. Glad to see a democrat on board

I feel the pipeline poses a high risk for potential contamination of America's largest aquifer.
Tell me again how this benefits America when the oil will be piped to the coast; no taxes paid; and sold to an overseas market.
Tell me again how "drill, baby, drill" and the oil being sold to overseas countries will benefit Americans??? I understand the benefit to oil companies and their shareholders.
I cannot see that this changes anything in regard to the US being less dependent on foreign oil.
Help me here!!!

Lets see Boozman claims it will reduce energy prices. Seems like I've heard that one before, from the drill baby drill team. Surely a politician wouldn't lie! Maybe make a foolish statement? O Hell, I just paid $3.949 per gallon for diesel, the Damn Fools Lie!

There was a 20,000 gallon oil spill in tyler texas last weekend from a poorly maintained pipeline. the oil industry has a documented history going back almost to day one of the first pipeline ever laid of shoddy and or criminally negligent maintenence . millions of gallons of oil have been released into the rivers, streams and aquifers over the years with almost no repercussions to the poluters . the xl pipeline will leak, it will damage the ground water quality of every state it passes through as well as adjoining states with shared aquifers. only oil companies, their shareholders, crooked politicians and crooked inspectors will benefit from the xl pipeline. none of these people care one bit about you, your children or future generations. they are trading our health and lives to line their pockets. period. anything else is smoke and mirrors.

Anyone that believes that the pipeline will decrease energy prices is ignorant and I don't care what party they belong to.
