Davis named interim police chief in NLR

The North Little Rock Police Department has been appointed an interim chief of police after its current chief recently accepted a new position in the city's government.

According to a news release from the city, Assistant Police Chief Mike Davis will assume the position Saturday. Davis will replace the department's current chief, Danny Bradley, who has accepted the position in Mayor Joe Smith's office as Chief of Staff at City Hall.

"Chief Davis is a wonderful police officer and a very effective administrator. I'm lucky to have an easy decision to make when it came to finding a temporary replacement for Chief Bradley," Smith said in the release. "I have full confidence in his leadership ability and know that the residents of North Little Rock are being well-served with his selection."

Davis has been with the department since 1986, when he started as a patrol officer. He was maintain a salary of $88,800, according to the release.

A permanent replacement for Bradley will be determined in the next few months.
