LITTLE ROCK A former Little Rock police officer has pleaded innocent to a manslaughter charge in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy during an alleged burglary.
Pulaski County Circuit Judge Wendell Griffin’s office says Josh Hastings entered the plea Thursday over the death of Bobby Moore Jr.
Hastings is free on bond and has pledged to fight the charge.
Hastings was fired in October after Chief Stuart Thomas concluded he violated department policies related to a June 25 burglary and the Aug. 12 shooting death of Bobby Moore Jr.
The chief said that Hastings was charged because evidence from the shooting scene contradicted Hastings’ assertion that Moore was driving toward him when Hastings fatally shot him.
