Federal forefeitures net agencies $200,000 since 2011

Nearly $200,000 in federal forfeiture assets have been awarded to local law enforcement agencies since 2011, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced Thursday.

The agencies received the funds after partnering with the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation Financial Crimes Task Force on several white-collar crime investigations that resulted in seizures and forfeitures of funds.

Since 2011, the Pulaski County sheriff's office has received $101,893 and the Benton Police Department has gained $97,290 in return.

“When we put our limited resources together, the partnership benefits are significant,” U.S. Attorney Christopher Thyer said in a statement. “In this case, local law enforcement agencies provided the IRS-CI Financial Crimes Task Force with manpower and resources in federal investigations and in return they received greatly needed funds for their agencies.”
