The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday for freezing fog over a large portion of the state.
Patchy freezing fog was expected early Wednesday, with temperatures staying below freezing in many places until mid-morning, a weather service advisory said. The threat for freezing fog was to dissipate after that.
Freezing fog may condense on elevated roads and bridges, making for slick driving conditions, according to the weather service. An advisory said that the Little Rock area is particularly susceptible to these conditions.
The fog outlook covered following counties: Arkansas, Baxter, Boone, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Cleburne, Cleveland, Conway, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, Logan, Lonoke, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Newton, Ouachita, Perry, Pike, Polk, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Saline, Scott, Searcy, Sharp, Stone, Van Buren, White, Woodruff and Yell.
Meanwhile, a flood warning continued for the Cache River near Patterson, affecting Jackson and Woodruff counties. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the river stage was at 8.4 feet, while the flood stage is 8 feet, the weather service said. The river is forecast to continue rising to 9.5 feet Monday afternoon.
