Prescott driver struck, killed by train

A Prescott man was killed Sunday night after his vehicle was struck by an oncoming train, the Arkansas State Police said.

Jimmie L. Guyton Jr., 47, driving a 1990 Buick Century north on County Road 48 west of Prescott when he failed to yield at a railroad crossing, the state police said in a preliminary crash report.

Guyton’s car was hit on the rear driver side by an oncoming Amtrak train about 10:50 p.m., state police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Guyton was the 542nd person killed in an accident on Arkansas roads in 2012, according to preliminary figures.
