Freezing fog, slick roads possible Thursday morning

— Officials say freezing fog that can turn roadways slick is possible Thursday morning over much of the state.

The National Weather Service said in a statement that the fog can condense on elevated roads such as bridges and overpasses, creating slippery spots. An advisory covering much of the state remains in effect until 9 a.m.

Authorities in Little Rock were responding to reports of at least three wrecks in the area of Interstates 30 and 440 shortly after 6 a.m. A multiple vehicle accident on the Interstate 430 river bridge was reported just before 6:30 a.m.

"The Little Rock area is very susceptible to these conditions," the weather service said. "Area motorists should use extra caution while driving this morning."

Temperatures should rise above freezing after sunrise, the weather service said. In Little Rock a high of 44 is forecast.
