EUREKA SPRINGS Authorities have arrested a man in the New Year’s Eve slaying of a Eureka Springs woman but have not formally charged him.
Carroll County Sheriff Bob Grudek said 21-year-old Laura Aceves was found dead Monday. She was lying in a pool of blood in her apartment.
The Harrison Daily Times reported that investigators say she was shot and a “metal object” was found lodged in her head.
An 18-year-old Berryville man was arrested as a possible suspect and a gun was found at his residence.
Grudek says he’s waiting for the medical examiner’s report and other evidence before determining whether the suspect should be formally charged.
