Firefighting crews respond to a home blaze Jan. 4, 2013, outside North Little Rock.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK No one was injured in a fire that destroyed a house outside North Little Rock on Friday morning.
Oak Grove Fire Department Chief Randy Pogue said the residence at 7508 Reed Road appeared to be abandoned and no one was inside when crews arrived about 6:45 a.m., finding half of the structure engulfed in flames.
Pogue said the cause isn't known, but it appears to be suspicious blaze because the structure was not connected to any utilities.
At one point, the fire was visible shooting from multiple parts of the roof, sending a large plume of gray-black smoke into the sky. Flames continued to burn about 7:30 a.m. as a second wave of firefighters arrived to start battling them.
Units from North Little Rock also responded.
