This screen grab from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of Calif. Flickr page shows an altered photo of Pelosi posing with female House members on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. — House minority leader Nancy Pelosi on Friday defended an altered picture of Democratic congresswomen that was posted on her Flickr photo-sharing site.

The photo showed four House members who were not in the original picture, which was taken Thursday when lawmakers were sworn in as members of the 113th Congress. They arrived at the Capitol steps late, and their images were inserted with a computer program.

“It was an accurate historical record of who the Democratic women of Congress are,” Pelosi told a news conference. “It also is an accurate record that it was freezing cold and our members had been waiting a long time for everyone to arrive and ... had to get back into the building to greet constituents, family members, to get ready to go to the floor. It wasn’t like they had the rest of the day to stand there.”

Pelosi said the photo reflected the nation’s diversity, because it included women from every community and religious faith.

“So we were pretty excited about it,” Pelosi said. “We got a lot of response back from the country, and one I loved was when they said, ‘Can the women in Congress hear the people cheering across the country?”’

There are 61 Democratic congresswomen including Pelosi.

Faking a photo for any reason other than comedy is just not acceptable. She knows better than this. Can't take the cold, then join Obama in Hawaii while the rest of us pay the bills. Let's get some work done. With the 12 worthless years of Bush we are now faced with 4 more years of garbage.

I have, on my desk, a photo of some dear former colleagues of mine. Funny thing is, one person in the photo could not be present when it was taken. She was added in later digitally to complete the picture before being given to me as a gift. Does it make the photo any less meaningful? No. If anything, it's even more endearing that the effort was made to be inclusive of those on my team.

As if Nancy Pelosi herself opened up Photoshop and spent hours on the edit when she could have been saving the world (in the U.S. Congress, LOL).

In fact, the only thing noteworthy about this photo is that given all the things that are (or should be) going on in Congress right now, this picture, much like the one on my desk,. has no useful place in the news cycle.

How is this a "scandal"? No one is in the picture who wasn't supposed to be. It shows all the female House members, which was the purpose of the photo. Guess what? Presidents don't personally sign all their "signed" mail and photos, either. Must be a slow news day.

Must be a very slow news day when the only thing the baggers can complain about is the money spent when presidents go to Kennebunkport to fish, go ride horses in California, go cut brush in Crawford or spend vacation with their family in Hawaii....WaWaWaWaWa...
What!! You mean they only complained about one president spending money on vacation??

That's one of my pet peeves, NoCRoss. They carry on about it whenever they don't like a president, as if all other presidents had stayed at the White House 24/7 without let up. All presidents take vacations (during which they are far more connected to their jobs than most people), and all presidents make foreign trips. The current crop of haters seem truly incensed that the president goes to Hawaii on vacation. It is his home state, and happens to be one of the United States.

From Hawaii News Now: President Obama has taken 83 days of vacation. Continuing at the same rate would have him take 168 days for eight years, about 21 days a year. Very modest.
George W. Bush, 297 days at his ranch.
Clinton, 174 days at Martha's Vinyard and Jackson Hole.
Reagan, 349 days at his ranch.
Remember this the next time the WA-WA-WA about Obama vacationing starts up.

She is a fraud in every way possible, but her left-wing constituency will never vote her out because she delivers the pork. The Pelosi's have done quite well with her in Congress. She needs to find honest work folding sheets in prison at six cents an hour.
